Hurricane Earl Hit Belize early this morning

No Comments Uncategorized

Belizeans at home and abroad were tuned into the Radio and TV stations monitoring Hurricane Earl as it moved towards the country of Belize staring on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.  Heavy rains and winds started during the day and continued into the night as the Hurricane moved closer to land. Locals were boarding up their houses, rushing to get food, water and emergency supplies before the storm.  Belizeans abroad were tuned in all day and night to Love FM a local Radio and TV Station to listen to the updates as they were being announced. After Hurricane Earl moved over land, the calls were coming in rapidly into the radio stations with various emergencies stating that water was rising in certain areas. Numerous calls were coming in from Vista Del Mar, a community located across from the Belize International Philip Goldson Airport.  It was very intense for our Belizean families living abroad to listen to all the callers pleading for “help”. Rene Villanueva and his support staff gave us minute by minute updates over live updates over the local radio stations and for listeners abroad, live stream via Illusive Radio App and Belizeanvibez.com were available for the world to tune in.   We listened, we post on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, we post for everyone to Pray for Belize, images and videos of the wind and dark skies were being posted on all social medio outlets.  We were all scared, we prayed for Belize, we ferared for the worst, we text, we called our loved ones at home while we sit and listen.  The Weather Channel in the USA were posting images and annoucing updates on the Hurricane; Interviews from our Mayor and others were being broadcasted.  All in all we give thanks that to Government Public Officers, Radio and TV Personalities, Doctors and Nurses, Police Officers, Belize Defense Force, Security Guards, Transportation Companies, NEMO, all the shelters and everyone that was there to lend a helping hand during this most tragic storm.  More pictures coming soon.  “Pray for Belize” #hurricaneEarl #Belize #Recovery #ReliefEfforts #DonationsNeededHE_sea
